Our History
Nilands was established in 1991 by CB Niland after relocating to Cape Town from Polokwane. In Polokwane, he founded Niland and Pretorius, which remains in existence today. Initially focusing on Commercial Law and Litigation, the firm gradually expanded its services to include conveyancing, deceased estates, notarial and property sales services.
Basie Potgieter joined the firm in 1996, having obtained his BA LLB from Stellenbosch University in 1994. He qualified as an attorney, notary, and conveyancer in 1996. CB Niland continues to act as a consultant, primarily handling deceased estates and providing advice on litigation matters. Basie oversees all matters related to conveyancing, notarial practice, and estates. The firm has established numerous associations with other small and medium-sized firms, for whom Nilands serves as conveyancers. These collaborations enable the firm to offer comprehensive referrals across various legal domains.
